Ground Water in Cities - Bangalore

Hi Friends,

This year around the rain was below normal and untimely. Bangalore city is ever expanding and polupation is increasing constantly.

We see there is water supply issues in different parts of the city.  15 years back when i constructed my first house, i did not even think of bore well in my house. City watersupply was going to my overhead tank directly. Surprised... this was in year 1998.

Over last 15 years, slowly i was forced to collect water in a sump and pump to overhead tank. Slowly water supply also was given once in 2 days , then once in 4 days.  I was forced to buy water from private parties.  All in matter of 15 years.

In 2011 when i constructed by second house in Rajarajeshwari Nager... i first sank a bore well.  To ensure water supply.  I also took water connection from city water supply system.....which is yet to be functional.

Apart from this This time i did following

1. Rainwarer harvesting in to a separate tank
2. Used water harvesting in to a soaking pit.

Rainwater harvesting did result in some water colelction. Rain was not very helpful. I go one full tank of water in this season. That is very limited sucess.

But the used water harvesting is working daily. This is very important for all individual houses and apartments.  This works 365 days (against 40 to 60 dsyas of rain).

You can get useful information from multiple agencies... one of them is in the link given below

It is very easy to implement and cost is also very low... requires some planning.
